3rd Annual Adair County OSU Extension Pasture Tour scheduled for Sept. 20


Friday, September 8, 2023 - This educational event will feature pasture tours at the Snyder Ranch and GPE Farms, running from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.


Attendees can look forward to a range of program topics designed to enhance their understanding of various aspects of agriculture. The topics covered during the tours include:


· Stocker Calf Management


· Cattle Handling Facilities


· Forage Quality & Supplementation


· Fertility and Herbicide Application Considerations


· Alternative Feed Sources for Livestock


· Plant and Bush Identification and Control Options


· Soil and Forage Sampling Demonstrations


Furthermore, participants will have the opportunity to earn two hours of CEUs for pesticide applicators. The event also promises some exciting door prizes, with winners required to be present at the time of the drawing to claim their prizes.


One of the event highlights is the grand prize – a patented GoBob Scientific Hay Feeder, a collaborative design effort involving the OSU Animal Science Department.


This innovative feeder has been meticulously designed to minimize hay waste and deter calves from entering. Constructed from 100% new American steel, the feeder weighs approximately 460 pounds.
