Friday, November 17, 2023 - Clif’s Pharmacy was awarded member of the month for November during the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce membership meeting on Wednesday.
Clif Meece first opened as a lease department pharmacy in a local retail chain store in 1972. Meece spent 25 years at this location before he decided to relocate and open up his own free-standing pharmacy in September 1997.
Meece loved being a business owner and pharmacist and tried to be a positive influence on his customers, treating them all as his friends. He would continue to operate his pharmacy until he passed away in December 2022, at the age of 73.
Clif's son, Mike Meece, who has over 30 years as a pharmacist, and his wife Rachel now oversee the day-to-day operations at the pharmacy.
Announcements included a free community Thanksgiving dinner that will be held next Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sallisaw Middle School cafeteria.
The keynote speaker for November was President and CEO of the US Marshals Museum (USMM), Benjamin Johnson.
Johnson explained the purpose and process of how the USMM landed in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He also walked the audience through a virtual tour of the museum to showcase and highlight some of the history and exhibits visitors can expect to see.
