Commissioners approve sheriff's purchase of new pursuit vehicle

Monday, Sept. 20, 2021 - The Board of Sequoyah County Commissioners unanimously approved the Sheriff's Office's lease-purchase of a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe police pursuit vehicle at their regular weekly meeting Monday.

The Sheriff's Office ordered the $42,776.32 Tahoe more than a year ago, Sheriff Larry Lane said at the meeting. The vehicle from John Vance Fleet Services will be financed through Welch State Bank and will be paid for with money seized from drug forfeitures, Lane said.

The commissioners also approved the hiring of Sallisaw police officer Coty Biles as a part-time reserve deputy for the Sheriff's Office. The Board of Sallisaw City Commissioners must now approve Biles' hiring at their next meeting in October.

In other business, the commissioners:

*Approved two plats in Hummingbird Hills, Pine Meadow and Hillside Place, for O'Neal Real Estate

*Approved the transfer of $5,000 from the Community Sentencing maintenance and operations account to the Community Sentencing personal service account.
