Free pre-diabetes classes offered

Friday, January 13, 2023 - A series of free pre-diabetes classes will take place at the Stanley Tubbs Memorial Library starting Tuesday, January 17, at 5:30 p.m.

Sequoyah County Extension Family and Consumer Science Educator, Janis Risley will be offering the CDC PreventT2 program for individuals that meet the criteria for pre-diabetes.

Classes are held every Tuesday for 16 weeks, then continue once a month for the next 6 months.

This life-saving program is proven to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes. It provides participants with support from a trained lifestyle coach as well as other program participants.

One in every three American adults has been diagnosed as pre-diabetic. To find out if you’re at risk, contact your healthcare provider or take a free risk test at www.doihaveprediabetes.org.
