Thursday, October 26, 2023 - October is full of family-friendly activities in Sequoyah County. As Halloween approaches, many of you may be wondering when your town will be celebrating Halloween and what other fun events are planned.
Roland, Gore, Sallisaw, Vian, and Webbers Falls town officials report that Halloween trick-or-treating will take place on Tuesday, October 31.
In addition, there are multiple fall festivals and activities planned throughout the county prior to Halloween.
The Bellefonte Church has been busy planning a trunk-or-treat event for Saturday, October 28, starting at 5:30. Families can bring out their little ones for a hot dog roast, candy, and hayrides.
Marble City’s Trunk or Treat is set for Saturday, October 28 from 4-6 p.m. Locals, individuals, non-profits, churches, and businesses are invited to come and set up or decorate their trunks and pass out candy to the kids in downtown Marble City. North Main Street will be blocked off and available for set-up. There will be plenty of parking for decorated trunks, so get there early for setup and parking space assignment if you are entering the trunk decorating contest. All trunks need to be decorated and ready to go before the trick-or-treaters arrive at 4 p.m.
In addition, there will be a costume contest and prizes for teens, kids, couples, and adults, including a prize for the best-decorated trunk.
Barnes Bounce is hosting a Trunk or Treat at Roland Hardware Store on October 28 from 5:30–8 p.m. There will be plenty of games, candy, and bounce houses for everyone!
The City of Sallisaw invites everyone to come out to Halloween at Brushy Lake for live music, hayrides, and candy. The event is being held on October 28, from 2–5 p.m. at the Brushy Lake Campsite. Campers will compete in a campsite decoration contest and hand out candy to trick-or-treaters. The best-decorated campsite will receive two free nights of camping.
The Town of Gore presents a “Gory Gore Parade” on Saturday, October 28, at 6 p.m. Everyone will walk from City Hall to Summers Ferry for fun, festivities, and a bonfire. Festivities taking place include a trunk or treat, a costume contest for ages 0–4 and 5–12, and a costume contest for pets. All animals will need to be leashed.
The 1st Assembly of God Church in Sallisaw has scheduled a Trunk or Treat event for October 29 from 5-7 p.m. The evening will offer candy, fun, games, and prizes. The 1st Assembly of God is located at 514 W. Cherokee Ave., Sallisaw.
Sallisaw Police Department’s Halloween on Elm Street is set for October 31 from 5-7 p.m. The streets will be blocked off with area businesses, churches, and organizations handing out candy and treats.
Don’t forget to stop by The Sequoyah Manor Nursing Home on October 31 from 5-8 p.m. as residents hand out candy to all the ghosts and goblins during their 2023 Halloween Trick or Treat event. Sequoyah Manor is located at 615 E. Redwood, Sallisaw.
Webbers Falls Park is hosting a Trunk or Treat on October 31 from 6–8 p.m. at the park. Churches, businesses, and organizations wishing to hand out candy need to be at the park no later than 5:45 p.m. Due to the safety of the children, everyone must walk through the park, and therefore no cars will be allowed in after 5:45 p.m.
