Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Deputies and Investigators, along with Cherokee Nation Marshals, the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office, and District 27 DA’s Office, are currently conducting a thorough search of a densely wooded area near Lake Tenkiller.
Information from a deer hunter led officers to the area. At this time, several human bones have been located. Sheriff Lane said, “The bones have been found scattered over about a 200-yard area; hopefully we can recover enough to make a positive identification. The remains do appear to be pretty old and have likely been here several years." The search will continue as long as weather permits.
