International Overdose Day awareness event scheduled for Aug. 31

Wednesday, August 9, 2023 - The Sallisaw NOW Coalition (SNC) would like to invite both the local community and neighboring area agencies to join in observing a global event known as "International Overdose Awareness Day."

The event is slated to occur on August 31 at the Stanley Tubbs Memorial Library from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

With a history spanning back to 2001, International Overdose Awareness Day is a worldwide initiative that takes place annually on August 31. Its fundamental purpose revolves around heightening awareness regarding overdoses.

This event is intended to alleviate the stigma associated with drug-related fatalities. In addition, resources will be offered to those experiencing grief caused by such losses.

The SNC aims to play a vital role in this event by extending its own awareness to residents of Sequoyah County. The coalition is dedicated to furnishing the community with crucial information and resources that are readily available.

As part of their engagement, the coalition extends an invitation to all who are interested in attending the event. Participants are encouraged to bring along their wealth of knowledge, resources, expertise, and compassionate hearts to contribute to the collective effort.

If your organization would like to set up a booth at the event, contact Micki Kimble at 918-208-3755.
