Wednesday, May 1, 2024 - A fatality collision occurred Tuesday, April 30 at 6:30 am on US-59 approximately 10 miles northwest of Spiro.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), Clayton Garrington, 38, from Keota was driving southbound when he was struck in the rear by another vehicle. Garrington was pronounced dead at the scene with head and trunk-internal injuries.
The driver of the second vehicle, Alan Deen, 37, of Sallisaw was transported by private vehicle to Cherokee Nation WW Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah with trunk-internal injuries. He was treated and released.
The OHP was assisted at the scene by Leflore County Sheriff's Office, as well as the Bokoshe Police and Fire departments.
