Monday, November 14, 2022 - A Muldrow man pleaded innocent Nov. 2 to a felony charge of driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

David R. Beard, 52, could face up to a year in prison and a fine of up to $1,000 if he is convicted.

On Oct. 26, a Muldrow police officer received a call about a possible intoxicated driver. The officer responded to the area of South Main Street in Muldrow when a vehicle driving erratically came by. The vehicle was traveling between both lanes of traffic, prompting the officer to initiate a traffic stop.

The officer made contact with the driver, Beard, who reportedly smelled of alcohol, which led the officer to contact a Muldrow police sergeant to come to the scene and perform a field-sobriety test, which Beard failed. His blood-alcohol level was 0.22%.

Beard was then transferred to the Muldrow Police Department and later to the Sequoyah County Jail.
