Friday, November 10, 2023 - The Pervasive Parenting Center will hold its Bi-Annual Art for Autism night, Thursday, November 16, at The Rough Day Brew Co. at 108 S. Witte in Poteau. The event will begin at 6 p.m. and will feature artwork from local artists as well as others.
The art will be for sale by auction and funds raised will be used to help the Pervasive Parenting Center. All ages are welcome.
“This is the brainchild of my wife Jennifer and Jay Falkner,” said Kodey Toney, PPC Director. “We have many local artists that have some incredible work, so we decided to try to showcase that talent while working to raise funds for the center.”
The Pervasive Parenting Center is a non-profit organization that helps families in eastern Oklahoma living with disabilities. “While we work with families coping with all types of disabilities including physical, developmental, and mental, autism has been one of our main focuses. My son Konner was diagnosed at the age of three, and that is what sparked us to start this organization,” said Toney. “That is also why we decided to call this Art for Autism. All of the proceeds from this event will be used to help families in eastern Oklahoma, so all of the funds will stay in this area.”
Funding in the past has been used to help fund classroom grants for children with disabilities, provide training to families and educators, bring in resources to the area, help with parent support group meetings and Sibshops, and to provide scholarships for people with disabilities going into post-secondary education.
“We just want to help families receive the resources they need to make a better life for their family members with disabilities,” added Toney.
The auction will start at 6:00 p.m. This event is open to everyone, and will include works from all mediums.
The center is still looking for more art work, so if you or someone you know are interested in donating contact 918-647-1255, or ktoney@pervasiveparentingcenter.org.
