Police searching for suspect in Tuesday's double-homicide

Wednesday, June 19, 2024 - Authorities have identified and are searching for the suspect believed to be responsible for a double-homicide that occurred Tuesday evening east of Sallisaw. The man is thought to be responsible for other murders as well.


Identified as Stacy Lee Drake, 50, of Birmingham, Ala., he was last seen on foot outside a motel in Morrilton, Arkansas and is believed to be armed and dangerous.


On Tuesday evening, the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Dept. was called to La Ferry's Propane east of Sallisaw where they discovered two deceased employees. The names of the victims, one male and one female, have not been released yet.


It was also discovered that a vehicle was missing from the business parking lot. That vehicle was later located at a hotel in Morrilton. The hotel and surrounding area was searched but the suspect was not located. Authorities were able to obtain video footage from the parking lot and identify the individual as Drake.

According to authorities, Drake has an active warrant for a homicide in Alabama and is believed to be responsible for three Oklahoma murders related to two separate car-jackings. He is separately wanted on multiple felony warrants from multiple jurisdictions, with charges including aggravated robbery, carjacking, and murder.


Drake is described as a white male with brown hair and eyes. He is 5’11” and weighs 185 pounds.


Anyone who sees Drake should not approach him and should call 911 immediately.


The Sequoyah County Sheriff's Dept. and OSBI are continuing the investigation at the scene of Tuesday's murders. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
