Redwood road project nears completion

Monday, March 14, 2022 - Progress is being made on area roads throughout Sequoyah County, but one reconstruction project is nearing its completion date east of Sallisaw.

The Redwood Reconstruction Road Project covers a two-mile radius from South 4650 Redwood to South 4670 Redwood.

District 3 Commissioner for Sequoyah County, Jim Rogers, said, "The project consisted of several upgrades. The driving lanes were increased from 10 feet to 11 feet, with a 3-foot shoulder. There were also improvements made to the drainage ditches along the two-mile stretch of roadway.

"This project is a County Improvements for Roads and Bridges (CIRB) project that was planned over 13 years ago, prior to me taking office. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is the overseer of this project," Rogers added.

The project is currently in its final stages, with a completion date set for the end of March.
