Monday, April 1, 2024 - The Sequoyah County Health Department is hosting a "Flutter Fest" on Monday, April 1. This special event takes place from 1–5 p.m. at the Sequoyah County Health Department and Redwood Park to raise awareness of child abuse prevention.
Flutter Fest will feature a variety of activities for children, including multiple sensory games and bins, storytime, and connections to local resources.
Youth can enjoy fun activities such as the "My Happiest Day Ever" contest, blue butterfly coloring sheets, and delicious refreshments.
A drive-thru-style car seat event will also be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., providing free car seat installations and checks by appointment, with additional seats available for walk-ins.
In addition, the health department's mobile unit team will be present to offer oral assessments, fluoride varnishes, vaccinations, well-child checks, and more.
Children will also get the opportunity to take pictures with the blue butterfly herself which represents a symbol of transformation and hope through trauma or pain.
Attendees are encouraged to wear all things blue, with mini wings being handed out to children.
