Sequoyah County Livestock Show starts today with adjusted times due to winter weather

Wednesday, February 23, 2022 - Rain, sleet, hail or snow, the junior livestock show must go on!

The annual Sequoyah County Junior Livestock Show will once again be taking place this week. The livestock show will be held at the Sequoyah County Fairgrounds starting Wednesday, February 23, and will run through Friday, February 25.

OSU Extension Agent Jace Goodwin said, "Due to the threat of inclement weather, the animal show times have been adjusted. We have changed the time for showing animals to 2 p.m., which was originally scheduled for 5 p.m. We are trying our best to beat the weather before it becomes too bad."

"The check-in times will remain the same, which is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on both Wednesday and Thursday," Goodwin added.

This will be the fifty-seventh Sequoyah County Junior Livestock Show. Everyone is welcome to come out and cheer on these kids who have worked hard preparing their animals for this annual event.

On Friday, there will be a bidder’s barbecue that will begin at 6 p.m. The premium auction will be followed directly after the dinner at 7 p.m.

The Sequoyah County fairgrounds are located at 464101 E. 1070 Rd., East Redwood and Shirley, in Sallisaw.
