The 10th annual Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner is scheduled for Wednesday, November 27. The event hosted by the Sequoyah County Resource Network is set to take place at the Sallisaw Middle School Cafeteria from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This tradition, established ten years ago, was created to ensure a warm Thanksgiving meal was available for the community to share with their friends and family.
The event offers a welcoming, family-style atmosphere, where the community can enjoy an inviting “restaurant-style” service. Several volunteers will be on site greeting and seating guests, serving drinks, meals, and desserts to all attendees.
Each year the cooks from Sallisaw Public Schools volunteer their time off from school to prepare for the Thanksgiving meal, which is complete with all the fixings and desserts.
The KATS bus will also be providing free transportation to and from the middle school cafeteria to residents living within the Sallisaw city limits.
Currently the organization is in need of desserts such as pies, cookies, or cakes as well as monetary donations.
