Soup N Soulz Supporting the Community During Extreme Cold

As extreme cold grips the area, local non-profit Soup N Soulz is stepping up to provide essential support for those in need. Located at 100 E Cherokee Ave in Sallisaw, the organization has opened its doors as a warming center, offering a safe, heated space and hot meals.

“When temperatures drop into the teens, we operate as an emergency response center, staying open 24/7 and providing not only a warm place to stay but also serving three meals a day,” shared Director Harold Powell.

Soup N Soulz has served the community for nearly a decade and has operated out of “The Shed” for the past four years. Powell highlighted the urgent need for donations, including food, blankets, hygiene kits, socks, hats, gloves, coats, and financial contributions.

In addition to their emergency services, Powell explained that the organization provides resources to help individuals improve their situations. “We do more than just feed those in need. We work with them to help secure jobs and provide resources to better their circumstances,” Powell said.

Soup N Soulz also hosts drug and alcohol support meetings, fellowship gatherings, Bible studies, and devotions, offering a holistic approach to helping the community.
