Monday, October 9, 2023 - Two women are dead following a Monday morning collision.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) report, the collision occurred approximately eight miles north of Stilwell.
The report states that Donna Decker, 73, of Santa Margarita, CA was driving southbound on US-59 when her vehicle traveled left of center. Decker's vehicle struck a car driven by Virginia Vernon, 55, of Stilwell, who was headed northbound. Vernon's vehicle was struck head-on. Both vehicle's departed the roadway.
Decker and Vernon both expired at the scene.
The OHP was assisted at the scene by members of the Adair County Sherriff’s Office, members of the Westville Fire Department, and Adair County EMS.
