Wednesday, November 9, 2022 - American Legion Post 27 and the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce are preparing for Sallisaw's annual Veterans Day Ceremony.
The ceremony will be held at the Indian Capital Technology Center on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m.
Sallisaw Mayor Ernie Martens will welcome guests and be followed by Frank Sullivan III master of ceremonies.
The American Legion Post 27 honor guard is scheduled to present the posting of colors, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance with American Legion Unit 27 Auxiliary President Paula Mouzakis.
Carl Albert State College’s Holly Bormann will perform the national anthem, and the pastor of Kingdom Builders Church, Brandon Harris, will deliver the opening prayer.
Guest speaker John Bennett, First Sargent, USMC Ret., will make his speech preceding two musical selections performed by the Sallisaw Middle School choir.
Sallisaw Chamber Director Marty Green recites the "Ragged Old Flag" prior to the dedication of flags at Retirement. The ceremony will continue with the American Legion Post 27 honor guard as they retire colors and present the laying of the wreath.
Before dismissal, Tessa Winton will be representing Sallisaw High School as she performs the playing of taps.
The public is welcome to attend this annual Veteran’s Day ceremony to celebrate the selfless and noble veterans in our community. Every day, not just Veterans Day, is a good day to thank a veteran for their bravery, time, and honor.
