Water available for residents in outage area northeast of Vian

Friday, January 19, 2024 - Several Sequoyah County residents in the area northeast of Vian have been without water for more than a day. Some of the areas included in the outage include Eastlake, Grey Squirrel, ANG, TAT, Buzzard Roost, and Evening Shade Rd.

Sequoyah County Emergency Management Director Jonathan Teague stated that he has been in contact with the Sequoyah County Water Association and crews are working hard to locate and repair the problem. Association officials informed Teague that a break in the line had been located and repaired but that did not resolve the problem. Crews are still attempting to identify the issue and are currently still working to restore water to the impacted area.

Sequoyah County Emergency Management is partnering with Cherokee Nation Emergency Management to deliver two pallets of water to The Wolf at Tenkiller for those residents in need. The Wolf is located at 453579 E 965 Rd, Vian, OK 74962. The water will be available in the parking lot.

"We ask people to show some grace to the folks at the water association. Some of their workers have been working many hours straight to keep water flowing for the citizens," Teague said. "Also, big thanks to Cherokee Nation Emergency Management, District 2 County Commissioner Beau Burlison, and E.O. Smith. All were more than willing to help the folks of the county without question."
